And so it begins…

Well, Juneathon is officially underway, and I have succeeded so far by getting up much earlier than I would have liked this morning, and going to a spin class at the gym. I know that Juneathon is traditionally about running and so it would possibly have been more appropriate to kick things off with a run, but I did do a 10K race yesterday so I think that should be enough to let me off the hook!

Anyway, once there spin was great – there’s nothing quite like the adrenaline surge you get from sprinting along to Bonnie Tyler’s “I’m Holding Out for a Hero”. How is that song not on my running playlist yet? Turns out it’s quite an appropriate soundtrack for this week too, as that song has a starring role in the cheesy musical Footloose, and as it happens I’m off to see a friend perform in an am-dram version tomorrow evening.

But the main thing is that Day 1 of Juneathon is successfully completed, and many calories were burned. Which is just as well, as I am off for a client dinner at Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley tonight – yummy! My job’s not all bad I suppose!

Welcome to the world of Juneathon! Well done on your 10k yesterday as well.

  2. Thanks Adele. I was in last year too (on facebook) but my attempt got scuppered by work. Hopefully I’ll do better this year!

  3. Good work on Day 1! A spin class is a very good start. Only 29 days to go!

Hi 🙂 I followed your link from the Running Bug forum to your blog. Well done on completing the first day of Juneathon! I’d never heard of the challenge until I saw your post on the Running Bug forum about an hour ago, but you can definitely count me in! I’ll be logging my activities on Facebook, and I look forward to reading about your progress here 🙂
Well done on yesterday’s 10K by the way! 🙂 Oh, and enjoy your dinner tonight. Unfortunately you just don’t get perks like that in the world of teaching!

Ah, so you’ve started a Blog. I can keep up with you now.
Good luck with the Juneathon and well done in your BUPA race. Wish I was fit enough to race 10K in the time you did!
    Cheers!

    • Hi Boothy! I’d no idea you had a blog – you kept that quiet. Looking forward to reading it. My ex is a huge fan of Steve Prefontaine – in fact there’s a large framed black and white photo of him in my spare room still awaiting collection!

And I think its safe to say that regardless of time in 10Ks you are already a LOT fitter than I am!
