Day 4 – more of a sprinter than a climber

I’ll say one thing for Juneathon – it’s certainly improving my ability to get up in the mornings! Another early morning, another spin class. But that’s where the routine ended. Our usual instructor was mysteriously absent and replaced by a scary military type woman who yelled a lot. She also set us the most boring session in the world – just a series of ever-longer hill climbs (3-4-5-6-7 mins with 90 seconds recovery between each).

Just plodding through for such long intervals knowing you’ve got ages to go and more after that was pretty draining on the will-power as well as the body. I really missed the euphoria of crazy short sprints (see my Day 1 post). Still, there’s no doubt it was an effective workout, and I suppose it was interesting to learn that I am more of a Mark Cavendish than an Alberto Contador – I didn’t know that before and its always good to find out something new about yourself.

Day 4 done and dusted. Bring on the weekend.
